Some tournaments crown a surprise. Brisbane crowned the favourite. The 2027 Brisbane Regional ran the same weekend as Frankfurt, and Edmund Khoo won it with a Dragapult ex deck, which was also his first ever regional. If you follow gaming and esports coverage on Technosports, here’s what stood out.

Dragapult ex Owns the Meta
The winner’s deck choice shouldn’t shock anyone, since that archetype is widely regarded as the best deck in the current Standard format. The standings back it up. Six of the nine Top Cut decks were Dragapult ex, and all three variants made the cut. The numbers were similar at Frankfurt, where Dragapult ex was in 16% of the field when both builds were counted. That’s a lot of Dragapult, and it explains why the deck is the one to beat. 5 best Pokemon TCG decks from the 2027 Brisbane Regional +2
The Challenger to Watch
Not every good deck is Dragapult, though. Decks built around Mega Lopunny ex are rising in usage, especially when paired with Dusknoir from Shrouded Fable. The plan is to use Dusknoir to either KO a second Pokémon or weaken a high-HP target. It’s worth trying if you want something off the beaten path.
Not a One-Deck Format
Dragapult may lead, but the field isn’t a monolith. At Frankfurt’s Day 1, the six most-played decks made up only 41% of the field, and 59% of players brought something else. Deck choice still matters, but good piloting and matchup knowledge can go a long way. For more tournament breakdowns, explore our latest Pokémon and gaming stories. Shufflephase
