EA Sports has dropped the Joe Gomez Winter Wildcards SBC in FC 26 Ultimate Team, giving the Liverpool defender his first special card of the season. But with a hefty 190,000 coin price tag, should you actually complete this squad building challenge? Let’s break down everything you need to know.
Table of Contents
Joe Gomez Card Stats & PlayStyles Overview
The 87-rated Joe Gomez Winter Wildcards card is a defensive powerhouse with versatile positioning across the backline. Standing 6’2″ with 4-star weak foot and skill moves, this English defender brings elite defensive capabilities to your squad.

The card features premium roles including Fullback++, Falseback++, Wingback++, and Defender++, making him adaptable for various tactical setups.
SBC Requirements & Solutions
Unlike recent challenges, the Joe Gomez SBC requires four squads without needing any Team of the Week items. Here’s what you’ll need to submit:
Segment Breakdown:
- Premier League Squad – 83 rated team with chemistry requirements
- Top Form – 84 rated squad
- England – 85 rated team featuring English players
- 87-Rated Squad – High-rated team with strong chemistry
Upon completion, you’ll receive the Joe Gomez card plus four reward packs. The total cost sits around 190,000 coins across all platforms.
Is The SBC Worth Completing?
Here’s where things get tricky. While Gomez delivers outstanding defensive stats and meta PlayStyles that defined previous FIFA titles, the value proposition is questionable. Market alternatives like Winter Wildcards Jonathan Tah offer comparable—or superior—performance at significantly lower costs via direct purchase.
For Premier League-focused squads or Liverpool supporters building themed teams, the sentimental value might justify the investment. However, competitive players seeking optimal squad value should explore transfer market options first.

FAQs
What positions can Joe Gomez Winter Wildcards play?
Joe Gomez excels at right-back and center-back positions with ++ ratings. He also functions effectively as a fullback, falseback, wingback, and even wide midfielder thanks to his versatile role capabilities and balanced stats.
Should I complete the Joe Gomez SBC or buy from the transfer market?
Unless you’re building a specific Premier League or Liverpool-themed squad, the 190K coin investment is steep compared to market alternatives. Winter Wildcards Jonathan Tah offers better value, while tradeable options provide flexibility if you want to change your squad later.
