After months of leaks, domain registrations, PEGI ratings, and one very indiscreet voice actor — Ubisoft has finally said the words. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is real, it’s in development, and we already love the new logo.

How Ubisoft Confirmed It

On March 4, 2026, Ubisoft’s newly appointed Head of Content Jean Guesdon published a major franchise blog post covering the future of the Assassin’s Creed universe. Buried inside — with maximum pirate flair — was the first official acknowledgment of the remake, accompanied by striking concept art of Edward Kenway standing atop the mast of his legendary ship, the Jackdaw, with the Black Flag Resynced logo clearly visible in the corner.

The new logo drops the “4” from the original title, signalling this is being treated as a fresh, standalone experience rather than a numbered sequel reboot.

What to Expect From the Remake

Rumours suggest the game is being heavily reworked, potentially introducing RPG elements to bring it in line with the modern Assassin’s Creed titles — a move that will likely divide fans of the original. It’s also been reported that the remake will drop the modern-day sequences, which honestly, most players won’t miss.

Early speculation suggests a new engine will dramatically improve the graphics and reduce load times — which, given the original’s 2013 cross-generation roots, is very welcome news.

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has one of gaming’s most devoted fanbases, and Black Flag remains arguably its most beloved entry. Getting a Resynced treatment — properly rebuilt for current-gen — feels long overdue and genuinely exciting. 🎮

What Else Is Coming to Assassin’s Creed?

Guesdon’s blog post also confirmed two additional projects in development. Codename HEXE is a darker, narrative-driven mainline entry, while Codename INVICTUS is a PvP multiplayer experience being built by the For Honor team at Ubisoft Montreal. The AC universe is clearly far from done expanding.
