Switch 2 owners, we feel your pain — but take a deep breath. Slay the Spire 2 entered Steam Early Access on March 5, 2026, and has seen enormous interest, yet the game is currently unavailable on Nintendo Switch 2. Movie Insider Before you close this tab, there’s actually a silver lining worth sticking around for.

Why Is Switch 2 Being Left Out — For Now?

This isn’t a snub. It’s a strategy. Slay the Spire 2 is currently exclusive to PC via Steam during its Early Access period, with console versions for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 all planned — but only arriving once the game hits its full 1.0 release, which Mega Crit estimates will take one to two years.

Developer Mega Crit has actually been pretty vocal about loving Nintendo hardware. In a February 2025 Neowsletter developer post on Steam, Mega Crit cheekily wrote — “Did you hear the news that a Nintendo Switch 2 is coming?? Expect an email from us, Nintendo” — strongly hinting that a Switch 2 release is very much on their radar. Movie Insider

Why the Wait Might Actually Be Worth It

Here’s the upside nobody is talking about. By the time Slay the Spire 2 arrives on Switch 2, it will have been refined by a massive active community for over a year — complete with all bug fixes, balance patches, and new content already baked in from day one.

And the PC version is already a phenomenon. On day two after launch, the game hit an all-time Steam peak of 430,456 concurrent players — making it the biggest roguelike and deckbuilder launch in Steam history — and reviews sit at 97% positive from over 10,800 ratings, firmly in “Overwhelmingly Positive” territory.

According to the Slay the Spire Wikipedia page, the original game followed the exact same path — PC Early Access first, then console ports once fully polished — so this precedent is well established.

Early Access pricing is $24.99 USD on Steam, with Mega Crit confirming the price will increase after Early Access ends IMDb — so PC players should grab it now while it’s cheaper.
