Where to Find It
Frostbites spawn naturally in the new Ice Caves, an underground biome filled with icicles and glowing ice crystals, as well as in snowy surface biomes. Strays can show up in the same caves, so expect more than one kind of cold threat.

How It Attacks
The Frostbite switches between two modes depending on distance and whether it’s holding Ice Balls:
- Melee: Up close, it hits like a normal zombie but applies Freezing, which slows you down and chips away at your health.
- Ranged: From a distance, it hurls Ice Balls that deal more damage than snowballs and knock you back. The closer you are, the harder they hit.
It also has some odd quirks. It can stand on powder snow without sinking and is immune to freezing itself. Like drowned, it can change form: stay underwater long enough and it turns into a regular zombie. Sunlight burns it, like other undead.
What It Drops
Defeating a Frostbite gives you Rotten Flesh and Ice Balls. According to Sportskeeda’s breakdown, there’s roughly a 67% chance of 0 to 2 rotten flesh and a 75% chance of 0 to 3 ice balls. Ice Balls can be thrown at enemies and are an ingredient for the new potion of Freezing.
Survival Tips
- Don’t stand point-blank. Close-range Ice Balls hurt the most, so keep moving.
- Fight in the light. Sunlight damages it, so surface fights can be easier than cave battles.
- Watch your footing. Icicles in the caves can fall and deal extra damage.
- Stock up on Ice Balls. They’re a handy projectile and potion ingredient.
