After over a year of waiting, the Cfx.re team just dropped the development update the GTA RP community has been screaming for — and it’s bigger than anyone expected.

The Wait Is Almost Over — FiveM x GTA 5 Enhanced Is Real

On March 18, 2026, the Cfx.re team officially published a development update confirming that FiveM support for GTA V Enhanced is actively in progress and coming in the coming months — with an early access release planned for the community to test and provide feedback.

The team’s goal is not to simply port the existing FiveM experience — they are rebuilding many core components of the platform and creating a tighter integration layer with both GTA V and the Rockstar Games Launcher for better performance, stability, and a stronger long-term foundation.

Performance Gains That Actually Matter

This isn’t just a visual upgrade — it’s a technical overhaul that benefits everyone.

OneSync, FiveM’s network synchronization engine that enables servers to support up to 2,048 players, has been overhauled to simplify the synchronization architecture and improve networking efficiency. For players, this translates to more stable and predictable performance, lower CPU usage, and potentially higher frame rates on high-population servers — while server owners benefit from reduced bandwidth and memory consumption without needing hardware upgrades.

What About Existing Scripts & Assets?

Good news for the thousands of server developers out there.

Existing features and natives FiveM currently supports for scripts in Lua, JavaScript, or C# will continue to work for FiveM servers on GTA V Enhanced — ensuring backward compatibility with the decade’s worth of community-built resources already in circulation. 3D assets can be converted via the Alchemist tool for Enhanced compatibility.

The Alchemist tool was first introduced after Cfx.re partnered with Sollumz — a GTA 5 modding suite for Blender — allowing developers to convert, import, export, and transfer game assets between the Legacy and Enhanced editions seamlessly.

FiveM is a modification framework for GTA V that enables custom multiplayer servers — powering the global GTA roleplay phenomenon with millions of active players worldwide, making this Enhanced update one of the most anticipated events in the GTA modding community’s history.

Not yet — until FiveM officially launches Enhanced support, all FiveM servers continue running on the Legacy version. Players who upgrade early will temporarily lose access to their FiveM servers, so it’s best to wait for the official early access release. Paste Magazine

Q: Will FiveM for GTA 5 Enhanced be free or require a paid subscription?

FiveM compatibility with GTA V Enhanced will be available to anyone who wants to use it for their servers — though accessing up to 2,048 player slots still requires a Platinum tier Element Club subscription, same as the current Legacy version.
