One of the biggest complaints at Crimson Desert’s launch was that wild animal mounts disappeared after use. Pearl Abyss heard the feedback and delivered — Patch 1.06.00 now lets you permanently register lions, tigers, bears, wolves, boars, camels, deer, raptors, and more as special mounts. Here’s your complete step-by-step guide to taming a tiger and a lion. GamesRadar+

How to Tame a Tiger in Crimson Desert
Tigers are found in the Rainforest, north of Beardtree Gorge — keep heading north of Delesyia. You’ll find them just north of the Giant’s Yard Watchtower, near the Legendary White Tiger. You cannot tame the White Tiger itself — kill it first, then leave just one normal tiger alive.

Once the area is cleared:
- Engage the remaining tiger in hand-to-hand combat — no weapons
- Deal damage and stay close until the mount prompt appears
- Feed it any chicken from your inventory to complete the taming process
That’s it. The tiger is now yours as a permanent rideable mount.
How to Tame a Lion in Crimson Desert
Lions require slightly more preparation. Head to the area just below Varnia and above the Traders’ Expanse. Before attempting to tame a lion, make sure you have already defeated the white lion present in the same region.
Once the prerequisite is done:
- You’ll find a group with one male lion and several females
- Eliminate all the female lions using a bow and arrows — do not damage the male lion during this phase
- Engage the male lion in hand-to-hand combat
- Stay close, keep dealing damage until the mount prompt triggers
- Feed it a piece of chicken from your inventory to tame it
Why This Update Is a Big Deal
One of the loudest complaints at launch was that you could tame a bear, ride it into battle, and then watch it vanish. Trailers had shown off lions and wolves as rideable companions — when the actual game treated them as temporary, players felt cheated.
As Pearl Abyss confirmed, none of the post-launch updates were pre-planned — changes are iterated in real time based on feedback and player response. That’s MMO-level post-launch support for a single-player game, which is almost unheard of. GamesRadar+
According to Pearl Abyss’s Wikipedia page, the studio behind Black Desert Online has over a decade of experience with live-service updates — and it clearly shows in how they’re handling Crimson Desert.
