Some bosses test your reflexes, and others test your nerve. The Temptress does both. She’s one of the toughest fights in the game, and she hides behind a very familiar face.

Who Is the Temptress?

The Temptress is another name for the Succubus, a demon you fight after breaking the Four Seals of the Sage, and the fight is generally considered one of the toughest in the game. You play as Rose Belmont, who investigates Dracula’s resurrection in Paris in 1499. The Succubus is one of the bosses guarding the Tarot cards Rose needs.

Where to Find Her?

The boss waits inside the Hall of Mirrors in Dracula’s Castle, a separate area you unlock after finding the Queen inside the mirror. One guide says to get there by kneeling in front of a Mirror of Life, and that progress here is tied to your overall game progression. Work your way through the dungeon until you reach Belmont Manor, where the Temptress awaits. The same guide notes that she’s masquerading as Rose’s mother at the bottom of the map, so expect a story twist before the fight begins.

Temptress

Before You Fight

Prepare as you would for any major boss. Heal up and make sure your best spells are equipped. Remember too that this fight is a difficulty spike. Bosses such as the Sage and the Temptress are notable difficulty spikes, so be prepared before entering their arenas. If you’re unsure, it helps to save before stepping through the mirror.

How to Beat Her

Once the cutscene reveals the Succubus’s true nature, the fight begins, and she’s agile and hits hard, so you’ll struggle if you can’t keep up. The good news is that her attacks are well telegraphed and easy to avoid. That means patience pays off. Stay mobile, watch for her wind-ups, and attack when you have a safe opening instead of rushing in. Learn her patterns over a couple of attempts, since a clean dodge matters more than a greedy hit.

What Do You Get?

Beating her earns The Temptress card. After the fight, you absorb the card to gain Life Drain, a spell that saps life from a nearby enemy and heals Rose. To claim it, hold the Interact button during the Absorption phase, and the spell then appears in the Equipment menu. Life Drain is a useful way to recover health in tough fights.

Why This Boss Matters

The Temptress is also a gateway. The Sage card from Queen Eleanor only becomes available after you free her and claim The Temptress first. So defeating the Succubus is a required step if you want to keep unlocking Rose’s abilities.
