Imagine rolling across Hajin in your own tank while rival squads scramble for cover. In Modern Warfare 4 DMZ, you really can. It takes a bit of work, but the payoff is huge.
What You Need in MW4 DMZ?
A wrecked tank sits in the Armory inside the Air Base hangar on the west side of the map. To fix it, you need four parts. Once it’s repaired, you can drive it anywhere on the map for that match.
Tank Part Locations at a Glance
| Part | Where to Find It |
|---|---|
| Tank Water Pump | Air Base, on rooftops, shelves and building corners in the north, near fuel tanks or cabinets |
| Tank Plugs | Inside the mechanic buildings on the west side of the Air Base |
| Tank Battery | Bunker tunnels beneath the Air Base Hangar |
| Tank Alternator | Inside the locked Air Base Armory |
Part locations come from multiple community guides, and exact spots can vary.
The Tricky One: The Tank Alternator
Three of the parts are simply a matter of searching. The Alternator is the real challenge. To reach it, you need to:
- Find three notes near the Armory to work out the door code.
- Get the Multi-Use Air Base Hanger Key Card so you can open the Armory.
- Run the Operation Iron Citadel story mission, which gives you the Air Base spawn and the Armory access you need.
If you skip the story mission, you’ll likely be locked out, so plan around it.
Step-by-Step: Repair and Drive
- Collect the easy parts first. Grab the Battery, Plugs and Water Pump across a few runs, and extract each time to keep them safe.
- Deploy with Operation Iron Citadel. Choose it from your Story Missions so you spawn at the Air Base.
- Open the Armory. Use the note code and key card, then pick up the Alternator.
- Go to the tank. Place all four parts into the back of it. When the game shows “Vehicle Repaired,” you’re ready.
- Open the hangar doors and drive out. The tank is now yours for the match.
Keeping the Tank Running
Vehicles in DMZ have limited armor and fuel, so don’t treat the tank as invincible. When fuel runs low, drive to a Gas Station and park under the canopy near the pumps. It will refuel and repair automatically.
Smart Tips Before You Go
- Split the job. Trying to find all four parts in one run is risky. Gather them across several deployments, then do one big Iron Citadel run.
- Squad up. With three players, one can search while the others guard.
- Watch for ambushes. A loud tank will attract attention, so expect rival squads to come looking.
- Remember it’s one match only. The tank doesn’t carry over, so use it well.
Is It Worth It?
Absolutely, if you enjoy chaos. A repaired tank can clear enemy vehicles and give your squad a big advantage, though it does take planning and a bit of luck. Even failed attempts teach you the Air Base layout, which helps in later runs.
