Blade mains, it’s time to start hoarding Stellar Jade. HoYoverse just dropped the drip marketing for Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.3, and the first character revealed is one nobody quite predicted.

What Is Mortenax Blade?
Mortenax Blade is an alternate form of the Stellaron Hunter Blade, now wielding the Fire element and following the Path of Nihility — a complete departure from his original Wind/Destruction identity.
This makes him a debuff and potentially damage-over-time focused unit, much like fellow Stellaron Hunter Kafka, rather than the AoE blood knight playstyle of the original Blade. The lore twist? Most players expected him to become an Elation character given the presence of Aha in Planarcadia — so this Nihility reveal came completely out of left field.
Visually, he looks stunning — red and white bandages, black pants and boots, with a fiery redesign that was first teased during Honkai: Star Rail 4.1’s trailblazing missions.

Why Does This Change Matter?
Mortenax Blade is only the fourth 5-star limited Fire Nihility unit and the tenth limited Nihility character overall in Honkai: Star Rail.
He’s also the second character in the entire Version 4 cycle to not follow the Path of Elation, after Ashveil. Yahoo! Given that most Planarcadia characters have been Elation-aligned, this is a meaningful signal about where Blade’s story arc is heading.
From a meta standpoint, Acheron currently stands as the only Nihility hypercarry in the game, and her power has declined since release — leaving room for Mortenax Blade to potentially fill a new DPS or strong sub-DPS Nihility role in Fire teams. Yahoo!
Blade is now the second Stellaron Hunter to receive an alternate form in the 4.x cycle, following Silver Wolf’s LV.999 form arriving in Version 4.2. GosuGamers
