Pokémon GO’s Spring Marathon 2026 just dropped something special — a brand-new costumed Pikachu rocking a marathon visor. But here’s the catch: you’ll actually have to earn it. No shortcuts, no raids. Just you, your shoes, and 42 kilometers.

Here’s everything you need to know before the event ends.

How to Get Marathon Visor Pikachu

There is only one way to get this Pikachu — complete the free Spring Marathon Timed Research. The moment the event goes live, the Timed Research is automatically added to your account. No purchase needed.

The one task: Walk or run a total of 42 km (26.2 miles) during the event window.

Complete it, and you’ll earn 21,000 XP plus an encounter with Marathon Visor Pikachu.

Think of it like a real marathon — the distance is no coincidence. At 42.195 km, it mirrors the classic road race, making this one of the most thematic events Pokémon GO has ever run.

Can You Get It Any Other Way?

Yes — but it’s complicated. You can trade a Marathon Visor Pikachu with another player, but if it’s unregistered in your Pokédex, it counts as a Special Trade, which means:

  • Only one Special Trade per day
  • Significantly higher Stardust cost

That makes trading a less reliable option for most players.

Shiny Hunters — Pay Attention

The shiny version of Marathon Visor Pikachu is available, but you only get one encounter from the Timed Research. That’s a single shiny check per account — so there’s no grinding this one.

Other Spring Marathon Highlights

  • Flittle & Espathra make their Pokémon GO debut (hatch Flittle from 5 km Eggs, evolve with 50 Candy)
  • Flower crown Eevee & Buneary appear in Field Research encounters
  • Multiple costumed Pokémon hatch from 5 km Eggs with shiny chances
