Rain, sun and a lot of clever positioning. That’s the story from Brisbane, where local player Kiran Singh took the title. The event ran on 26-27 September under Regulation Set M-C with open team lists, and it was the first Oceania event to use that ruleset. If you enjoy esports and gaming coverage on Technosports, here’s what the top teams did right.

The Winning Formula

Singh’s team paired Pelipper’s Drizzle with Archaludon and Mega Charizard Y, then added Grimmsnarl for screens and Parting Shot support. It’s a flexible mix that can switch between weather plans depending on the matchup. He finished Swiss with a 14-1 record on his way to the trophy.

Runner-Up Style

Haruki Sato took a different route. His team used something close to a “Big Six” structure with Mega Floette, Kingambit and Basculegion♂. Rillaboom brought Grassy Terrain, and Sneasler supplied physical power. Besides Mega Floette, most of the team benefits from the extra resistance to Ground-type moves that the Terrain provides.

A More Traditional Top Cut

Compared to Frankfurt, which saw unusual picks like Mega Meowstic and Vivillon make the cut, Brisbane’s lineup was fairly traditional. Weather and terrain teams did the heavy lifting, which is useful news if you want a reliable archetype to practise before your next event. Want more meta breakdowns?
